Back in October 2024 sand was everywhere on Casey Key two weeks after the second of back-to-back devastating hurricanes within a month. Where Hurricane Helene left huge mounds of debris, Hurricane Milton moved snowdrift-sized heaps of sand in ways Casey Key residents had never seen. 

This house on Casey Key Rd were we did the Mexican tile renovation today was built in 1940's and has survived numerous Hurricanes, with Milton the most devastating. There was a mini front-end loader brought in from the garage to scoop 5 feet of sand out of the living room and dump it out the blown out sliding glass doors. You could rightly say this house on Casey Key Rd, which is sitting right on the beach on the Gulf of America, is Hurricane proof! Hurricane Milton filled empty motel rooms on Casey Key's quarter-mile commercial hotel stretch, sat four to six feet high in driveways, blocked stairs in front of the seven-mile island’s emerald beach, and clogged sprinkler systems for tropical plants still buried by the island’s worst storm in decades.
